Fortunately, the weather has been completely rainy all weekend. This gave the planner from the GU some free time and he was able to take another look at our floor plan. Basically, he has now implemented our modification requests.
Ground Floor:
Bay window reduced from 50cm to 25cm. We allocated the space to the living room and additionally moved the wall one brick further down according to the plan. Living/dining room thus widened by 50cm.
The now omitted door as a direct connection from the entrance to the kitchen was actually our idea. We thought that we would have more design options with tall cabinets on the wall to the hallway. However, it already feels like a mistake. We are now considering whether we should simply plan the door to the kitchen in advance and have a lintel installed. So, to brick up the door so that later we would only have to knock off the plaster and remove the bricks from the wall.
The bay window is now "faked into place" at 1/3 of the building length, but still only has the necessary width for the landing stairs on the inside. So the kitchen has benefited by 25cm.
We still have to think about the windows. At the moment, there would be a wall exactly where our dining table would be. The first thought would be to install the window from the living room 1:1 on the right by the dining table and leave the corner window in the dining room as it is.
Upper Floor:
The stairs are now narrower and so is the entire hallway. Thus more space in all rooms except the office. The additional 25cm building depth was allocated to the dressing room. I'm not sure if that is enough or if we somehow have to trim the bathroom and bedroom a bit.
Basement: just for information. We definitely will not build the large hose room with the mini 10m² room like this.
Exterior Views:
The roof overhangs are still too large. They should definitely be reduced. The bay window at the front is now supposed to have plaster and two large windows, in front of which the roller blinds will be installed.
Our Opinion:
So now we are finally satisfied that we have a relatively generous floor plan and have accommodated all our rooms. All of this without weird twisting experiments and slanted walls.
GU1 always made it very difficult for us with their floor plans. Although all rooms were always included, it always felt somehow wrong.
GU2 initially had really great floor plans and a great design. But then really big mistakes in the kitchen/hallway and stuff. I wonder why, as a trained architect, you would give something like that to your clients.
With the really great input from the forum, especially , we have now brought GU1 to the point where the floor plans look systematic and no longer like something that fell out of a random generator.
