Now you have only changed the windows for the kitchen. This changes absolutely nothing to the overall depth of 550 cm for dining/cooking.

And cabinet placement options in the children's rooms?

That's correct. We looked at the 5.5m and it happens to be exactly the same ratio as in our rental apartment. We find that very cozy and pleasant. Now we even have a wall behind the dining table to the neighboring apartment. In the floor plan, however, it would be a window front and thus presumably visually more spacious.

Sure, you could probably move the wall between the kitchen and office by one row of bricks. However, the office would then become very narrow. I would prefer not to do that.

Unfortunately, it didn't work out with Musterpark over the weekend. But that gives me time to get a laser distance measurer. Then hopefully we can find a similar kitchen/dining area and get a feel for the room.

We have already furnished the children's rooms with Pax, desk, and bed. I actually think it's quite okay?

So, it goes on. We have now received feedback not only here in the forum but also in the environment that 5.5 m is too tight. We then went and taped the kitchen to the floor at the parents-in-law’s with duct tape and simulated the room conditions with chairs and see that it is very tight. Thank you for the hints - I probably just didn’t want to admit it. Now we will indeed omit the office on the ground floor, as has been pointed out here several times. In almost all variants we mentally go through, it is always in the way. Thus, the all-purpose room will be quite large, but that is supposed to be the room where we will spend most of our time (except for 8 hours of sleep a day).

Congratulations on the action and the insight!

If we chat you a little more, we'll still end up at #21.

Maybe not for #21, but I can really get along with this design. I’ll send it as a hand sketch to GU1. Let’s see what he makes of it.

Unfortunately, we probably won’t be able to build GU2, whose designs I posted here. A budget of over €500k just for the house and ancillary costs would be necessary. Even then, not with an insulated basement – only a climate door and insulation of the ground floor floor. We have given him the task of solving the discussed problems while simultaneously reducing costs by >10%. But I have little hope that we will resolve this conflict of objectives.

Over 500K for a house where the basement remains uninsulated? Seriously - sounds almost like a rejection offer.
