That's how I would interpret it too. It should be 30cm calcium silicate brick. I had already asked once and was told that nothing should be audible because the wall was widened to 30cm for soundproofing reasons. But I am not completely comfortable with that statement. I will ask again specifically.

Would a flat roof window be a solution for this or is that a bad idea?

You mean making the access to the utility room from below? I had also considered that to use the long wall side. However, then the washing machine wouldn't be as conveniently accessible as it is now.

( I read your deleted comments, thanks! Why they were deleted, only the wind knows).

I would rather recommend a skylight dome for the staircase. Of course, you can always add more. But in my opinion, you only get the rising east sun in the east.

I think it is more about enlarging the room:

Personally, I don’t think that is so good. The space under the stairs is, in my opinion, important for strollers, sports bags, backpacks, etc. Access from the hallway is quite good for that.

In my opinion, you will still be considerably better off with 30 cm single-layer KS than with double-layer 17.5 cm porous bricks with mortar blobs in between ;-) I suspect it’s related to the fact that he is very concerned about "market shares" among those readers who already find my style mean (or whom he wants to show that it can be even sharper) :)

Crazy, I would never have thought of that in my life. Although I also struggle with the staircase. I can easily imagine the rooms, but it's harder for me to picture how the staircase looks/works in different variants and how practical it is.

Oh, just keep going like that. Sometimes it’s helpful to have the fence post knocked against your head instead of just waving it gently.

I measured the floor plan again a bit and furnished it in a first attempt. When I look at what has implemented again, it does feel a bit amateurish, but you should at least see that we are making an effort. The variants with the bathroom at the top left and Katja’s original version (self-sketched, I’m not just passing on your drafts) were sent to the architect today as suggestions. Let’s see what he thinks about it.

However, I imagine that our styles differ in that my takedowns provide more "value added"...
