You’re making me curious. Then be so kind and mark all the areas you currently (!) suspect to be love handles on Villa Shiny. Maybe I can still learn something.

That anyway

So far we have always only had one bathroom and that's enough. There are only three of us after all.

In our circle of friends, everyone has children. 1-4 kids. Everyone describes what we “should consider” based on their own situation. But I, with one child, do not have even remotely the need that a family of six has and somehow nobody thinks about that.

Some of them yes.

I don’t see any love handles in her house. I only thought that she clearly has more area than we do.

I am an amateur, for me larger exterior dimensions also mean larger living space, you are experienced and know your stuff etc. For you it seems to be a pleasure to “pick on” some statements again.

You can also simply write that it probably does not have more space after all or whatever. I am open to being corrected, unlike many others.

What do you mean by the glass-covered terrace? Can't you do that anymore?

By the way, we have 168 sqm and we granted each of the two children almost 20 sqm. It doesn't have to be that way, but since my room used to be that big, they deserve that. Our budget allows it.

But I wouldn't build as big as possible either. Everything has to be cleaned after all. I no longer understand why everyone needs a walk-in closet. Somehow that's how people build nowadays. I'm glad we scrapped that idea and instead have a large bedroom without feeling claustrophobic in it. We don't need more than 3.5 m of closet space anyway, and that fits on one wall in our house.

Yes, you said you liked her floor plan so much that you could have adopted it (>> that means the number and distribution of the rooms would fit), but the size is too much (>> if there is no room too many, then each room must be oversized). Therefore, I say: then show me WHERE. Size that would really be too much should be easy to imagine away without pain. Identify these areas, and you can successfully shrink Villa Shiny for yourself. Or: try unsuccessfully to identify these areas and realize your mistake that her house is too big. I am convinced the truth lies somewhere in the middle between the size you now consider appropriate and the size of Villa Shiny (120%, if you take the size of your previous design as an index of 100). Play around with a floor area of ten by eleven. Nonsense – self-praise only counts if I say it myself.

At first I wasn’t even considering the dressing room, but then we thought it might make sense after going through our entire daily routines.

My husband gets up 2.5-3 hours earlier than I do because of work.

He usually gets dressed in the dark so he doesn’t disturb me. However, he sometimes forgets something, comes back and has to turn on the light. Problem is, I’m a very light sleeper and when I’m awake, I find it rather hard to fall asleep again.

That’s why I think a dressing room might make sense for us

Oh, that’s what you mean..

The kids’ rooms and the downstairs living/dining/kitchen areas are, in my opinion, the size differences.
The parents’ bathroom gone, replaced by a dressing room, then it would fit
Is it okay now? oops:[/QUOTE]

Why are the floor-to-ceiling windows only 2m high, that is not a normal size?

Best regards
