Electricity, for example, is done by e.dis Netz. They charge about 1500 euros for the connection on the property with a pillar at the property boundary. From there, you can lay and have it connected yourself if you want to save money. I couldn't find water and wastewater quickly; you'll have to call around. But you can also lay that yourself. It’s a few days of manual labor (and saves the gym) or you can rent a small excavator. If I spend a few hundred thousand euros on a house, I would never make the floor plan dependent on a few hundred or even a few thousand euros for the connections.

I am talking about drinking water and wastewater, electricity, and internet (cable). For drinking water and wastewater, MWA or WAZV Mittelgraben are responsible For drinking water, for example, only the installers listed in the MWA association area may be commissioned. Digging can certainly be done yourself and save a few euros on civil engineering.

Even if we accept the additional costs, what currently bothers me about mirroring the floor plan is that the bedroom and utility room + bathroom on the upper floor would have to be swapped. Then the bedroom would face the street (which is not very busy, but still not as nice as the garden side) and the utility room and bathroom would face the beautiful west side, which I also do not find ideal.

On the ground floor, mirroring would certainly be an improvement.

Mirroring has to be done, otherwise the terrace isn’t really next to the kitchen, right? I wouldn’t mind if the laundry room is accessed through the bathroom:

Which electrician signs off on a cable he hasn't installed himself? Unless you've known each other since sandbox days... The same applies to drinking and wastewater. Without a stamp from the registered specialist company, there is no meter.

It can even happen that you dig the cable trench yourself and the supplier still charges you the full price. Because they usually charge a flat rate per EUR/m, which includes everything. No one deducts the civil engineering work for you...

The latter cannot be generalized like that. Often, even with a flat rate, only a few meters are included. Or none at all if there is an option for either a power pole with a meter at the edge of the property or a meter inside the house. We could have done it ourselves. But since we only needed a rerouting, it was not worth it. Of course, (almost) any electrician lets you dig/slit and lay the cables yourself. He then connects everything in the end; nobody said you had to do that yourself. For drinking water, the supplier lays the pipe up to the meter; we could have dug that ourselves, too. Every meter counted there. Nobody cared about wastewater anyway. Neither during the original laying 20 years ago nor now, when we went back to the pipes.

That may be the case for you, but why does it always have to be generalized immediately? Here you pay xy EUR per meter. Everything is included, even civil engineering. If you do the civil engineering yourself, you still pay xy EUR and not less. Telekom also did not reimburse me 400 EUR because they could throw themselves directly into the open cable trench and did not have to open it again themselves.
