Building cheaply - this is how it can be done too!

We definitely didn’t just choose standard. I mentioned that too. Level-access showers in 160x100 cm, 60x60 cm tiles, freely altered floor plan – that cost quite a bit extra. That’s our "luxury."

Yes, radiators are standard. Oh God, how terrible – how did people live without underfloor heating over 20 years ago? We never had it and won’t miss it. To each their own.

Oh, and I didn’t find it easy – we just did a lot of research and weighed where to invest and where not. Looked at how to get the optimum out of our budget.

True, you can hear that here and there (also in real life). The opinion and taste of other people have never interested us
Or what "one" does or "one" doesn’t do. I am not "one"!

Well, that's a thing: many older houses without underfloor heating were built with basements. If you have a room below, you don't notice it. But houses with just a slab foundation, you have an unpleasant but explainable feeling of cold at your feet – it's uncomfortable when the cold comes from below. I can't say how it is with nowadays insulated slab foundations.

I still don’t understand what the whole thread is supposed to be about...

You can easily get below 1,000 euros per sqm. Screed visible, 2 sockets and one lamp per room, no guest WC but a single bathroom with combined tub/shower, no roller shutters, few, small windows, and do you really need plastered walls everywhere? Oh right, where structurally possible, of course drywall walls everywhere.

1,500 to 2,000 EUR per sqm simply corresponds to the standard that an average builder here finds comfortable, so the tip remains: just calculate a nice 1,500 to 2,000 EUR per sqm, unless you have special wishes that require less or more.

Whether 900 EUR or 5,000 EUR per sqm – everything is possible. We also don’t build for 5,000 EUR per sqm or even 2,000 EUR per sqm. I can honestly admit that others use a higher standard and therefore have to dig deeper into their pockets – so what? So far it all reads rather like people are trying to convince others to build as cheaply as possible.

You want aluminum venetian blinds and recessed fittings? What? You’re not allowed to want that! You can survive with plastic roller shutters and the developer’s standard regarding fittings was described as “tasteful.”

Hm, that may be true. Although surely many houses were also built without underfloor heating and without a basement. And we're neither barefoot nor sock-walkers, so I don't have major concerns. We'll see.

Sorry, but that’s total nonsense!

Read my thread opening, it says why I wanted to write this here!

My goodness, you’re all so sensitive!
