Now a question about the wallpapers. The price seemed incredibly high to me. Wouldn't doing some of it yourself save a significant amount of money? They probably do the walls with level Q2 or Q3. Everything else could be done gradually by yourself or with friends and save quite a bit.
The walls are done with level Q2, according to the internet and the sampler that is not sufficient for “normal” wallpapers. Doing it yourself is not possible for health reasons. We are not capable of covering an entire two-story house including ceilings ourselves with textured wallpaper, plaster, or wallpaper. Once we see the Q2, we might be able to reassess the situation. Meanwhile, we accept textured wallpaper as a first solution and will redo room by room at a later date. Doing everything all at once and right from the start is not possible for us.
...
I am seriously considering putting textured wallpaper in my new house again. Not because of the costs, but for the reasons mentioned above.
Because of your post, I was able to come to terms with textured wallpaper. :-) Unfortunately, our textured wallpaper is not as finely grained as I would like, and we were advised against that as well, but we can live with it. Maybe we will choose some kind of colored textured wallpaper.
... can, without constantly asking myself whether I’ve been ripped off.
I don’t ask myself that since the moment the decision was made. I live with the decision and try to see the advantages.
If the lawyer thinks it is not legal, you can at least work initially with a letter directed to the general contractor. It does not immediately turn into a huge legal battle.
I see it differently. If I fuel the conflict by involving a lawyer, then I do it to the end. I couldn’t handle involving a lawyer and constantly hoping it wouldn’t come to a court case. I am no longer so cool.
