Price increase - Our construction company wants 21.4% more

Well, sometimes you do overestimate yourself a bit. If I had been aware of the extent of all delays and additional costs, I probably wouldn’t have planned a controlled residential ventilation system today...

We now have to pay "only" 15.4% more for the house instead of the originally demanded 21.4% more, but the price increase for next year is already "included."

To me, especially regarding the dramaturgy, this has the taste of a cheap psychological trick called the anchoring effect. In my opinion, you should consult a lawyer to see how far this was a "doorstep transaction" and whether it is advisable to make a revocation. That was exactly my first thought and therefore I have to agree with 11ant. As long as the contractual situation is not 100% clarified, I wouldn't pay another euro out of charity.

It’s nice that you’re happy about it and I don’t want to talk it down for you. If you want to live with that and can, that’s your decision, but for me, the 3x 0.6% price increase would be okay.... provided that was also correctly presented contractually.

Your consistent refusal was definitely an effective, tactical measure. Apparently, they had hoped to chatter to you while you were in shock; I can’t explain such an approach any other way. If they had been sure of all the flowery writing, you wouldn’t have received a call........

Such a forum may indeed help and deter going to a lawyer due to possible additional costs, but here it is about more than 1-2 EUR. I would immediately consult the colleague lawyer regardless of any negotiation skills.
