Window installers could not find any defects, and a construction worker also could not make sense of why the walls are becoming damp. Why does the problem only occur at these two windows? Everything is fine with the other windows. If the problem had been caused by incorrect installation of the windows, then the problem would have occurred with all the windows.

Hi,

well, if it only occurs at the patio doors, then you probably didn’t execute the base point correctly?

Did you plan and build the house completely by yourselves? No craftsmen involved? Or a construction supervisor who checks your work?

What do you mean by aluminum sealing from the outside?

Hi Curb,

yes, we built it ourselves. The windows were installed by a company. The aluminum adhesive tape that the craftsmen use to seal the windows was also called aluminum sealing tape by the site manager. I applied the adhesive tape myself. It has been okay so far.
Could it be due to the window sills?
I can't imagine that the window frame is leaking anywhere.

I had the exact same problem some time ago.

After our walls no longer dried, we got help from a professional and sought advice. Our walls were measured and after an analysis, we decided on eckdry.

After just a short time, the walls became drier and we have been using it ever since and are very satisfied.

I can only recommend eckdry to anyone who has damp walls!

Hi as far as I know, window reveals must be vapor-tight on the inside and diffusion-open on the outside. No moisture from the air on the inside should be able to penetrate and condense in the cavity. However, moisture that has penetrated should be able to escape again to the outside. The outer sealing is therefore usually compressed sealing tape, covered with profiles against driving rain. Silicone and similar materials are rather counterproductive there.
