The reality that actually occurred was usually not on anyone’s radar beforehand, especially or even more so for analysts and supposed experts. Currently, it is similarly tangible with topics like Corona, floods, Afghanistan....... all that knowledge, the forecasts did absolutely nothing to help, rather they caused harm because people relied on them too much. From this point of view, as someone who has already paid nearly 10% in mortgage interest, I would say that there is only limited room for movement towards zero, whereas upwards the potential is endless. I wouldn’t chase the last crumb there, even if all kinds of experts told me that interest rates will remain permanently that low.....see reality. If I had told my bank in 1990 that interest rates would one day be at zero, they would have committed me to a mental institution. The problem is also that people think it will keep rising forever........I have seen house prices and especially stock market values free fall extremely (unfortunately at my own expense) which has made me permanently more cautious and down-to-earth.
