So, if I have to finance a purchase amounting to three months' income, then get out of this forum quickly and write off the house construction immediately :D

Above all, what kind of car do you get for that? Even for 15-20k you wouldn't voluntarily move those clunkers, but of course it's all a matter of budget and personal circumstances/preferences.

That sounds very demanding. When things were tight years ago, I once drove an old 1600€ Volvo station wagon. I liked it.

However, I assume that the three months' income applies per vehicle, or does, for example, a camper count proportionally?
What holding periods go along with this?

3 months' income is the upper limit for a vehicle. At the moment, the income situation is satisfactory. Retention period for my main vehicle is 2-3 years due to the high mileage, otherwise at least three times as long or longer. The [Womo] is not a car and does not fall under the self-imposed budget limit.

Pfff.... Such a detached statement. It shows me once again that a large part of Germans simply earn way too much money

..... Counterexample... I have a child in daycare, and on a Sunday the family walked 25km one way on foot to grandma's because they can't afford the bus. The children are 7, 4, and 1 year old.
.. And you don't get into a car that costs 15k...
Guess who has my respect?
