Is that including the masonry of the chimney or just the fireplace in the living area?

Of course only the masonry heater, I would have to lie but I think the LAS chimney cost about 2500 net. Delivered as a Poroton kit, completely built.

When it comes to the topic of stoves, one has to say that it is clearly a luxury and has absolutely nothing to do with economic efficiency.

Don't get me wrong, I also find it very nice, but there are threads where people calculate themselves to death with photovoltaics and storage, optimal installation of underfloor heating, KfW40 or 55, interest rate differences of 0.05, and then someone comes along with a stove like that

Luxury: yes, cool
Necessity: no
Economic efficiency: catastrophic

If you decide to go for it, then really get good advice (placement location, size, provide storage space for wood, etc)

Then I want to join in as well. The material cost about €9,000 including the vacuum monitor (important because of the ventilation system and extractor hood). I built it myself. The insert is from Brunner, including the draft system. The walls are made of fireclay bricks and plastered with stove plaster. In the picture, we did not yet have any flooring in the house.

Basically, you are right. Firewood is not much cheaper than, for example, gas, unless you have cheap sources. Since you already have heating in the living area, even with very cheap firewood you would only recoup the purchase price after decades, if at all. It’s still nice though. And otherwise: With interest rate differences and savings with photovoltaic storage, I would also chase every cent. That’s money for which I get no return when I spend it. But with such a stove, I get something very nice.

We have a lightweight chimney made of stainless steel and no masonry. It goes through the wall to the outside to the middle terrace (see the corner between the seating furniture) and from there through the flat roof of the canopy and the roof overhang several meters upwards.
