I honestly have no idea :D I'm neither an expert nor have I dealt with construction interest rates in the last 12 months.

I would like to disagree with that. A warm air fireplace that emits convection heat certainly makes no sense or makes the room uncomfortably hot. We have a KFW55 house and a heavy-duty masonry stove. It is heated once and then emits gentle radiant heat for 24 hours. With it, we basically heat the entire ground floor (except the guest WC and study, where the radiant heat doesn’t reach), but otherwise the room is never overheated and very cozy. However, I would not retrofit this type of fireplace either. Due to its high weight (almost 2 tons), it cannot stand on screed. This had to be omitted at that spot. In addition, proper masonry and plastering is done, which means a lot of dirt.

But maybe this doesn’t belong in this topic.

We have also inquired about the fireplace and its compatibility with Kfw 40+. In our current house, we heat our living area exclusively with the fireplace. That means in winter it is really cold without it, and one feels the need to light the fireplace. I think in the new house the heating simply must not be set as high as in the other rooms, otherwise there will be no need (and no benefit) to want to light the fireplace.

We are building the fireplace with storage bricks. So that the heat is stored and released slowly but for a long time. This way the room will not be overheated despite underfloor heating.
