I see it a bit more differentiated: Luxury: yes, cool (as is the case with some controlled residential ventilation solutions, by the way) Necessity: It addresses an urgent need for us that used to be life-impairing in winter. Not universally applicable Economic: As always, a matter of calculation. As the only heating system in the house in a pragmatic version, a basic stove is economically absolutely competitive. Ours is probably not economically optimized, but at the same time a sustainable piece of furniture.

I started a fireplace discussion there. ;)

Some supporters have responded, but brought few factual arguments that make a fireplace appear ecologically or economically sensible.
Rather statements that with even more money and even more mass the overheating can be somewhat mitigated.
Mass does not change the amount of energy introduced (about 4 kWh per kg of wood), but only the duration over which it is distributed.

Therefore my basic statement, a nice but pointless acquisition. :)

Gas in KFW40+ how do you manage that?

haha something like a vacation. nice but pointless?

much of what you could buy with money would then be nice, but pointless.
I will definitely remember this sentence :D
PS: I wouldn’t install a stove in an investment property either.

Yes, exactly! If you do it wrong, it can even become unpleasant with a fireplace in kfw40.

Could you still ask about it there or have you decided on an alternative?

That is precisely the point of the mass - flattening the curve of heat output. That is why you can get by longer with the same amount of wood to sit comfortably warm. Somehow that sounds like efficiency, doesn't it? Absolutely right, with poor planning and execution, you bring the summer heat buildup problems right into the winter. A thoughtful design tailored to the rooms and the house is unavoidable, just like with any other heating system. However, turning off your thinking during planning is not a problem of the heating system.
