Just as a rough estimate... Width of the house 2*5m (probably slightly overestimated), roof pitch 30 degrees results in 2.88m height above the knee wall according to the calculator. Adding the 2.50m room height on the ground floor leaves another 70cm for the intermediate ceiling and knee wall. I don't really see much freedom there? And building bigger downstairs makes the problem worse because the house becomes wider, right?

? You are not obliged to 30 degrees. 2 meters knee wall, estimated 10 degrees roof... or just roughly 1 meter knee wall, 22 degrees roof... no idea, the set square is at work... somehow that makes a nice house :) Or did I miss some information in the course of the thread?

Gable roof, hip roof has 30-45 degrees, accordingly I took the lowest. With less, only a shed roof remains, which has 8-22 degrees. Somehow that makes little sense in combination with 2 full floors that are allowed, the upper floor is only usable with a shed roof. I think I have to call on Monday. Everything with 1 floor and attic or forcibly shed roof does not fit at all into the rest of the area. In the first version 2014, no one built a shed roof and the future neighbor has a huge house with even 3 floors. (Unless the regulation is thanks to him...)

The term "building height" confuses me at this point because it is usually taken to mean the ridge height, but the description fits the eaves height. There are very different reference points for this, so measuring from the top edge of the finished ground floor to the top edge of the rafter is pleasantly clear. I interpret "(single-family house - height above sea level)" to mean that a site-specific reference height is alternatively used if the top edge of the finished ground floor is above this. Measuring at the building corner is also highly commendable, as flowing reference heights (commonly used: penetration of the original ground level in the middle of the actual house front or similar tricks) are very difficult to understand.

I called today but the person in charge (kleines Rathaus) was in a meeting and has not yet responded to my email regarding this. But I would for now assume that something similar to the eaves height is meant, as otherwise gable roofs would only produce glorified attics.

The basement is currently quite uncertain, as there is some slope but presumably only so little that it can still be excavated to a reasonable price. Without a basement, however, it definitely means a larger attic and thus a steeper roof. From a smaller apartment, one also has quite a few things that are only needed occasionally, and storage rooms on the ground floor are definitely out if one plans with a study and a technical room.

We also gave some thought to the orientation. An east entrance would offer short distances, but only makes sense if the entrance is on the long side, otherwise the hallway becomes quite tube-like. However, then the gables would be north and south, which we do not currently like for several reasons. First, we feel we would be giving up some of the sunny side. Second, the southwest terrace would then be much further south at the neighbor’s, since we do not yet know how they will build, we assume they will also tend to position more to the northeast to get sun from the south. And the third point, I am still somewhat uncertain about its extent and relevance, would be the photovoltaic system which would significantly shadow itself with a steep east-west roof (see attic). Currently, the idea is rather to place the entrance fairly centrally on the north side and rotate the house slightly so that it faces exactly south. The technical room then maybe northeast and the study northwest (view of the garden).
