...exactly for that reason! I have nothing against basements, I just don’t need one now or live in a way that I don’t need one. I don’t care if someone builds a basement; it’s like always and everywhere, there is no ONE solution. I had a house with a basement, it was nice, now without a basement, it will probably be nice too. A fundamental discussion about it is pointless, because everyone has to weigh the pros and cons according to themselves and their situation.

My husband and I could afford a basement if we wanted to. In this one point, however, I have insisted: I simply do not want a junk room (it may be that my attitude is based on prejudices). Except for hillside houses (whose basement is more like a semi-basement than a cellar, and that is really great), according to my experience and opinion, everything that is not worth being accommodated on "normal" floors (that is above ground, with light and air) is not really needed. A workshop, for example, which I understand and appreciate very much, I find better situated in the utility room or in a nice garden shed or an extension to the carport/garage. I do sports, if not in a club, then in the garden, in my own room, or in the living room. Food and sparkling water crates I store in the kitchen. Sauna definitely in the "normal" bathroom. It would depress me if I had to go to the basement for a sauna session. Swimming pool, which we cannot/care not to afford, in the garden or on the ground floor; definitely not in the "basement," but gladly in the semi-basement if you are lucky enough to live in a hillside house. As mentioned, I find the distinction between "basement" and "semi-basement" important. We do not need a party basement, since parties possibly take place on the ground floor/garden.

Our laundry volume has tripled with a child. You neither want to throw pink items in with white shirts, nor store or wash poop and pee accidents with other laundry. Double washbasins because 3 or 4 people need to get ready simultaneously in the morning. That’s not possible with carrot stains in the neighboring basin. Plan space for this in the [Technikraum].

Do you have floor plans for the offers?

Why a basement? Oil storage, wood, coal is gone, no more self-sufficiency. Just like that, three larger basement rooms are gone. Sauna in the basement, uh no, it’s upstairs with light and air. Party basement obsolete, instead terrace, living space. Laundry in the basement keeps you fit and is impractical. Tools, lawnmower and co are upstairs where they are needed. Suitcases, decorations and co are under the roof.
