Since my wife still works and I am only 50% employed and looking towards retirement, I am quite often at the stove, etc. I can also cook a bit, not great, but it works. Stove, I find induction much better than Ceran, which we had before. This touch control on our Ikea cooktop is okay, but beautiful is something else. Oven, the main thing is that it’s waist-high. Wiping it out, so what, I don’t need a lyse. Control with rotary knobs, that was a must. I refused the one with a display and all at Ikea, even though it could do more. It only has to be able to do what I can, and that’s not much. Refrigerator, well it should cool, it’s not worth thinking about it, they all have a Danfoss compressor that lasts a good 10 years, and whether it says Amica or Liebherr on it doesn’t matter. Extraction hood, ours only cost 150, is loud and has a light, which is important so you can see better when stirring. Otherwise, when cooking, window open, good that the dishwasher can do auto, I don’t need more programs. It’s important that salt and rinse aid can be refilled conveniently, which is given with the Ikea device. Let’s see how long it lasts. Our Siemens ones lasted more than 10 years before. Washer and dryer were delivered to us by our friend from his store, both Bosch, very intuitively operable, both together 1000,- bucks, what can you say, they do what they’re supposed to, wash and dry, although I built a clothesline in the garden for us, that’s still the best. I think household appliances should first and foremost master the task they are supposed to do, extras, i.e. special programs and nice to have, are dispensable. They only cost money and require susceptible software. K.
