We don’t have pyrolysis. The oven is mine, no messing around in there. I have never missed it either. Everything that can sizzle goes on the gas grill. Messing around is allowed there And even then it’s kept within limits.

Sure, if it's the Miele with all the bells and whistles, then the oven costs €1500, but our Neff will also have pyrolysis and Slide & Hide and costs €580. You just have to know how and what you buy. Do you want price/performance or the top brand without price/performance.

My mother bought a combination ceramic hob and oven with pyrolysis from Siemens 20 years ago. It cost 5000DM and still works today. It's like it used to be with TVs. Back then, such a thing would cost about a month's salary. Today you can buy 3 sets (hob+oven) for one month's salary.

Last year we replaced our old AEG with a new Neff. Slide and Hide, Aqua Clean, pyrolysis, the small display, ...

Online I paid €675 including shipping and €75 for the pyrolysis-compatible racks. We installed it ourselves. I think the price is quite OK.

Now about cleaning. The better half only used Aqua Clean once and found it unnecessary. Old school wiping is better for that. But she is totally thrilled with pyrolysis about every 3 months. Inside almost like new.

Slide and Hide was not a requirement for us, the oven simply had it. In hindsight I find the retractable door great, even though our oven is located under the countertop. My mother is always quite jealous when she can admire the oven during her visits.

Pyrolysis is quite nice when something really goes wrong.
The NoFrost compartments in the fridge are great. Fruit and vegetables really last much longer.

That was a good one.

Last weekend at the butcher, the customer asked how to prepare the Leberkäse.
Convection or top and bottom heat?
160 ° after so many minutes you check, if necessary you add more.
Will the butcher of the future then take out the tablet, connect to the oven and set everything? Afterwards, the customer even receives a reminder on their phone that the Leberkäse really goes into the already optimally preheated oven at 11:15?

Don’t online recipe sites already have a link "Buy Now"?

With pure online shopping, the experience with the accompanying social contacts is missing.
What would a Friday be without the baker-butcher-library-duck feeding tour?

Do you know what annoys me no matter which household appliance?
Something always beeps somewhere.

...no, then the Leberkäse will carry the appropriate QR code, which will be scanned by the oven. Actually, the device that moves the food from the refrigerator to the oven at the right time is still missing. Or maybe the oven with refrigeration? Or the refrigerator with a cooking compartment? I’m curious what the future will bring.

What amazes me is why extractor hoods are so expensive. They quickly cost around 1000€. For that money, you can get very well-equipped cooktops or ovens. And an extractor hood is rather seen as an auxiliary appliance.
