We have just commissioned a local TV/Hi-Fi specialist to install a SAT system (up to 8 participants) on the roof. Costs amount to €1031. A Kathrein dish with Kathrein LNB and Jultec Multi will be installed.

What is already available:

[*]A total of 5 rooms are equipped with TV sockets, one of them with a TWIN socket
[*]All TV cables from the rooms to the attic
[*]a coaxial cross-connection from the utility room to the attic
[*]1x 16mm² grounding cable from the Poti rail in the utility room to the attic
[*]Roof passage tile is ready for installation in the attic
[*]Power is already available in the attic (but we probably won't need it for the SAT system, as the receiver is powered

If all of that is already available, I find that very expensive.

Here is our offer from the specialist company. I don't find the individual items very expensive. At least the material roughly corresponds to internet prices. The small specialist companies have to make a living from something.

Just let it be Kathrein, it's 160-200€ cheaper.

The prices for LNB and dishes are already official. I have here an LNB for under 20 euros that has been working for years and delivers a great picture. And we have already discussed the topic of dishes elsewhere, just because it says Kathrein on it does not mean it is better or worse than any other dish of the same size.

Maybe... at first I considered installing the SAT system myself and buying the parts myself too. Then it wouldn’t have been Kathrein either. Then I would be looking at material costs around 300-400€. But the TV technician said that nowadays they only install Kathrein because they have had the best long-term experience with it in terms of durability. Whether that is really true I don’t know, but at least the company has already installed SAT systems for 2 acquaintances and they are really satisfied so far.

Edit: And you have to support the local medium-sized businesses sometimes.....
