It’s really interesting; I’ve come across this several times in different places – I used to think that children generally cost money and that they don’t finance themselves through child benefits/tax exemptions. But thanks to needs weighting, social mobility is achieved – albeit only in the statistics. The old DINKs can wait in line behind that.. ;)

Well, in the end, it is a tool to calculate oneself poorer, if one wants. A household from the top 10% is a household from the top 10%. Better not to look at how many of this selected subgroup the 4-child households actually apply to.

I find it rather interesting to see that there is actually a lack of feeling for the proportions. Not out of lack of empathy, malice, or lack of grounding, but because one really has a different picture of what is "normal." Somehow, one is still in a bubble.

But what good is the statistic if you live in your bubble. If the rent or property is also in the top 10% of the price range, it results in a neutral picture again.

According to the statistic, one is very wealthy, but in their region, they cannot even afford a small apartment.

If one were to move away, they would lose that great salary...

Unfortunately, that's the problem with these statistics. The percentiles obscure the fact that the really interesting leaps only begin at the top 5, or rather at the top 2.5. Otherwise, it's of course comfortable to have an extra thousand available per month. For today's excess consumption, certainly nice, but for the house building project, that no longer really seems to be enough today.
Earned income alone is no longer sufficient; investment luck or gifts/inheritance seems to be an increasingly central component.

I talked today with one of our microtechnologists. She used to work three shifts for 1200€ net. Now she has about 1.5 times that and thinks she’s in heaven. Most people here would probably start crying at that point... I didn’t tell her which factor alone is still added to my salary...

Three quarters correct. Usually, not 100% of the “surplus” compared to cheaper regions goes towards rent or similar. But of course, you don’t have everything extra in your pocket either.
