How long have you been saving equity for your house?

We did it like Nordanney, buying an apartment in our youth and then houses, and then selling them again at a profit. This way we slowly worked our way up. Early repayments unfortunately had to be made, but the profit was still high enough. I believe not everyone would put up with so many moves (always within a few kilometers). It didn't bother us, but many in our circle of friends think we are crazy. They build a house once and that's that.

Oh yes: and the experience is simply incredible - with each house it gets better! ;)

Started an apprenticeship at 15 and immediately took out the first building savings contract. Shown this by my parents. Bought my first apartment at 24, paid 50% in cash even though I was self-employed by then. But always had a BSP contract running on the side. Bought the cars from there, had only 2 VW Passats in 22 years :-) and for fun an Aprilia RSV1000R. And built the house at 34/35. 30% equity, all by myself since my girlfriend started her studies late.

I think I did everything right when I look at the current prices.

Nowadays I wouldn’t save anymore, the price increases are simply too high. And a crash feels like it’s in the distant future.

Yes, that also existed, but my parents are normal workers. Those who came to Germany with debts bought us free.
