Yes, but in terms of education, the earnings are really lousy. In the USA, you get rid of your debts quickly. While here you have to pay off forever.

It is always your immediate circle of friends/relatives/acquaintances that you compare yourself to: car, salary, house, social status. You quickly end up being the "poorest," for example, because you only have household equity of 6,000 euros net, since all your friends are entrepreneurs. But your immediate circle of friends does not necessarily reflect the average of society. Still, you feel poor when they all tell you about the Audi S8 Plus as a company car, or the trips to Bali three times a year. The best thing in this situation would be to find a circle of friends who all earn around 4000 euros net - then you would feel better. That is human and perfectly okay, everyone compares themselves to others (and if not, then that must have been very hard work :) )

The dropout (one of the best decisions of life) thinks: students could calmly pay something; why should they have an almost free - financed by the tax money of those whom they will later govern/command/possibly dismiss - study? This does not only mean the repayment of Bafög, but also the costs of the universities borne by the general public (tax money), including the salaries of the staff. In most cases, at least an income measurably above the median comes in after studying. It would therefore be quite appropriate, as a beneficiary of this worldwide very favorable system for students, to also “give back” a significant part. Managers are later also more likely to be homeowners than cashiers at Rewe.
