Except maybe your benefits and later the pension? Or did you voluntarily join the statutory health insurance as a full payer? ;)
Otherwise – teaching requires 5 years of study and the two years of teacher training are reasonably paid – a luxury that educators (in my opinion unfortunately) do not receive.
When looking at civil service, I always recommend taking the net salary of the civil servant from the salary tables and entering it into a reverse salary calculator for employees. Beyond the IG Metall, IG BCE & Co. salaries, a corresponding net income without career and leadership position is often hardly possible there. If you factor in pension-equivalent reserves on the employee side, you end up even higher.
In short: with A12/A13 as a teacher, you are very well provided for, deployable everywhere regionally and secured. So definitely not average, but very comfortable.

Yawn - always the people who think you find fulfillment in a leased Porsche, vacation on watu-watu, and the iPhone 12 Pro.

And then the people who earn 80k net and count themselves like Friedrich Merz to the lower middle class. Poor civil servants. I had to laugh at that for a moment, thanks for that. ;)

Everyone has their own lifestyle - lucky is the one who earns a lot and is satisfied with a simple life without needing big luxury to show off to "friends". We count ourselves in this group - and we are very proud to have earned it all ourselves. 60% savings rate and we love our life.

Hm. What do the employed teachers say? Are they doing a worse job than you? You really get (sorry) a lot (!) given to you.

I earn well and save 50% of my monthly net income. 60% with full satisfaction is an achievement, then you are doing everything right!

I think insurances are always somewhat subjective.
But we will soon have building, accident, and also term life insurance to cover at least most of the total loss risks.

Is life worth living like this? Definitely!
We do hobbies and activities every day that we really enjoy. If we need/want something, we treat ourselves to it; we are not poor.

We also once took a 2-week all-inclusive vacation and realized that we don't need that again. We saw much less of the country than usual and especially had much less contact with locals. Just boring.

Some things will surely change when there are children. By the time the kids are old enough to care about Netflix, brand clothing... we hopefully will have enough for that too.
