We have the entrance on the side, park directly in front of it, go inside and directly to the left is the utility room

Yes, the variant was initially also among our top choices, as we also visited houses of this type. But even these houses have a door in the utility room, so the utility room is then oriented towards the garden (plus a patio door of course).

Certainly not all, but I would do it that way. A carport close to the entrance can outperform any garage by far in case of doubt.

I would also subordinate dogmas like "the main entrance must face forward" to that.

Edit:

And if the terrace door is there anyway, what is the utility room door still for? That makes even less sense.

Why around half the house?
The carport is next to the house (even above the side entrance)
The front door is in the middle of the front of the house, that's about 4-5 meters.
It's definitely more convenient than squeezing around my car, possibly scratching my little car with grocery bags... no no
My husband is currently parking in front of the house because the garage is occupied. He has only 3 meters. But he wouldn't even dream of squeezing himself between the house wall and my car.
But it was all part of our house and yard plan.

I will have a driveway right in front of the front door.
Door open, straight through to the kitchen, possibly temporarily stored on the island there, and around the corner into the pantry:

Unfortunately, it’s just a screenshot, but I hope it’s recognizable. Our pantry has a window, no door; the latter wouldn’t help anyway.
The pantry is small, but only food, kitchen utensils, and frozen goods go in there. Cleaning supplies have their own cabinet in the entrance area, and technology is in the basement.

... ah yes: groceries go first into the fridge in the kitchen, only then spaghetti and canned food into storage in the utility room.

In between there is a bathroom visit after the cloakroom visit, because shoes can gladly come off early... at some point it will go to the utility room...
