What kind of children do you all actually have that require renovations almost every year (should)?
Not every year, but after 4 years I can already see quite a few spots that I would like to have fixed in another 4 years. Kids simply tear up their environment much more. The little ones don’t pay attention to clean hands and drag themselves along the wall (my mother and her newly renovated hallway have a cute handprint), yesterday my mop bucket tipped over. My youngest, who had knocked it over, wanted to tell me but discovered her doll on the floor on the way to me. The baby urgently needed to be put to sleep. I only found out about the accident 5 minutes later. Laminate... a few edges are bending up again. You can cover everything with expensive parquet flooring with 3 toddlers in the house, but you have to be able to afford it. If I have to save money on food, you seriously consider allowing adoption if the child wrecks it. Or you choose something cheaper (doesn’t have to be ugly) and can take “accidents” of all kinds more relaxed. Children have no sense of the value of things. My daughter was playing totally blissfully at Christmas with my mother-in-law’s really expensive and fragile Christmas decorations. We all almost had a heart attack and took the stuff away from her. She didn’t understand the fuss. Her doll just wanted to fly on the glass reindeer to Santa Claus.
