Our laminate, color Merbau - dark, in the living room stood up to a four-meter window front with a balcony door and sunlight until late in the evening. When we sold, the floor still looked like new after 8 years. It was bought from a specialist dealer at the time and cost 35€/sqm. So also not so expensive.
Oak is no problem. Use reasonable glue, high-quality parquet, suitable filler and off you go. We have laid about 250 sqm of it, almost no warping at 30% humidity. Then have the screed laid without expansion joint (anhydrite screed) and it looks even better. Our living/dining/kitchen area is over 75 sqm and has no expansion joint; we laid Haro Oak Barrique as a country house plank (expensive, but top quality) and a whitewashed version in the children's and workrooms. Even three small children and a big Bernese Mountain Dog can't harm the parquet after 1.5 years
Could you please post pictures sometime showing how the parquet looks when laid (i.e. a picture of a large area)?
