Parquet from the hardware store: Is a 2.5mm wear layer sensible in the long term?

What does cheap parquet mean?

I am supposed to pay 53 euros per m2 for my desired parquet.

Whitewashed and planed oak.
I don't know the wear layer right now.

18.50 eur clearance item (instead of 31 eur regular) for ash 2.5mm. 22 eur for birch, 3.2mm.

Phew, that's cheap (inexpensive?). Hmm I was once told that offers only start at 40 euros.

18.50 is indeed extremely cheap and makes one skeptical. I'd say normally in the hardware store for parquet it's 40 euros/m2 and then with promotional discounts you get to about 30 euros. But 18.50? Well, I don't know if I would do that.

It's just remaining stock and ship's floor. Only the packages that could be seen were still available, about 50sqm probably. Otherwise, it costs 31 euros.

And the other: Birch is generally probably cheap.

I’m going to be mean now and say: Take a look at eb*y For example, Landhaushielen from €25 per sqm. Two-layer – ideal for gluing. I’ve seen a lot of these offers and have even glued some myself. Precisely fitting and noble parquet for €80+ per sqm is better processed, but you don’t get much of that once it’s laid. I also know the comparison to very high-priced Haro parquet (there the sqm was well over €100), no difference when laid. So, regarding the OP’s question: Thumbs up for cheap DIY-store parquet.
