Years ago, our dishwasher was broken and leaked. We wiped the tiles dry and that was fine. Is your parquet regularly treated under the kitchen cabinets? Later, we lived in a house with parquet in the kitchen as tenants, which was simply a mess. I know both well. It wouldn’t be for me, but of course everyone can do as they please. This is about experiences here.

Of course, it depends on the water damage

we have solid parquet. Just like with tiles, individual planks can be chiseled out and replaced. If that is desired. Unlike tiles, however, wood only gets more beautiful with every scratch instead of uglier. But tastes vary there as well.

I personally would not lay parquet flooring in the kitchen. I have no experience with it – but I imagine it’s difficult: if it is lacquered/oiled, the coating on the walkways/standing areas will wear off quite quickly, won’t it? Although it’s also certainly a question of how often and how long the kitchen is actually used. But anyone who likes to stand for hours at the stove or often washes by hand will quickly wear off the coating, right? As I said, I don’t know much about it. I can just see from the old kitchen, which is now 45 years old and is being scrapped this year, that even in front of the stove and sink the coating on the tiles is gone. Instead of beige, they are now brown. And when I think about how often a piece falls while I’m peeling beets and I accidentally step on it... I prefer tiles. But basically, I believe you should just do it the way you like. Those who value parquet highly in the kitchen will surely take good care of it accordingly. I, on the other hand, am not a cleaning fanatic, so there will again be tiles in the new kitchen; especially since there is direct access to the terrace and stones will surely stick to (possibly wet) shoes.

I can only say that our parquet floor has been serving us for years. My wife, with her damaged discs, is happy because standing on hard tiled floors causes her severe problems.

I had it in my old apartment before, and after a few years the floor looked really bad. Personally, I wouldn't do it again. Now we have tiles and they are really low-maintenance.
