Oil or wax also has the advantage over varnish that it can be repaired in spots. With varnish, the entire surface must always be sanded down and repainted. Apart from that, oiled or waxed parquet is clearly more beautiful than varnished.
That may be true, yes. But it completely seals the surface of the wood, it kills its structure. An oiled wood lives and also looks, as my predecessor said, significantly more beautiful.
I know 20 years ago painting was still SdT. Nowadays I didn't know that it is even done anymore.
It was said to be more resistant. Oiling can also be done later after sanding.
I don't know if it is due to the improperly applied varnish, but in any case, it looks untreated compared to old parquet. There is a thick visible layer of varnish on that, which we do not have. The varnish is supposedly still the usual one. More than getting advice from the specialist shop and having it installed by professionals, one really cannot do.
