Basically, in my opinion, terraces must maintain the minimum distance of 3m from the boundary. Whether there are special regulations in this case, I have not been able to find out so far. Therefore, I view 's solution rather critically.

It is not like that for us and we have exactly this solution. The advantage is that from the living room we do not look into the table legs of our garden table because the dining set is placed in front of the garage. But it has to be checked. Then the terrace must keep the distance and to the left there is space for planting, raised beds, playground or other things. But I do not see the garage block in the small garden at the back. That would be a pity.

The garage must keep a 5m distance from the street.

Block or not, call it a storage room. We don't have one either, but almost all our close neighbors do. For one, that’s where their raised beds corner is, for another, wood is stored and chopped there. One family uses it to park their children's fleet or the bikes they ride around the house in the mornings. A garage doesn’t leave much space once a car moves in. In that sense, I see that little garden corner well used and wouldn't put too much weight on it now.

So? How does it look, Klaus? How did you make use of the peace?

Thanks again for all the input. We couldn’t really take a break to go through it privately due to circumstances.

Hope we manage it tomorrow.

A few more pieces of information. 5m garage to the street is correct. As far as we know/in our opinion, the terrace must be within the building envelope. I will check that again though.

I don’t think we will (be able to) do without the parking space in the garage. Bikes and children’s stuff need to go somewhere. Whether I then build a garden shed somewhere or expand the garage... I think in the end it doesn’t matter.
