Thanks for that :). Entrance page with this kind of "vestibule" is a must for me. In the old house I also had the door at the long corridor that led between the living room and dining room. In winter you have to put on thick socks when the front door opens and closes. Besides, the entrance "dirt area" should not be a traffic area inside the house. Therefore, this kind of niche.
