1. Google check terrace. I will ask the building authority tomorrow.

Building window not relevant. BUT:
A homeowner is obliged to remove his terrace to the extent that a distance of 2.50 meters to the neighbor's property boundary is maintained. This is the current decision of the OLG Koblenz.

Don't understand your problem? In my draft, I have drawn an 8.5 m long garage (= 6 m garage + 2.5 m extension), which even maintains a 5.5 m distance from the street (because it's more convenient for parking than 5 meters). With an 11 m long house that keeps 3 m distance from the street, it then aligns flush with the house at the back. How close the terrace is to the boundary doesn't matter. For me, it's about the garageEXTENSION block, which I wouldn't want in such a small garden. I think it unnecessarily reduces the garden, and next to the house there is space for both the garage AND the extension.

Well. The problem does not exist with an access from the south. Correct. But if you make the access from the side, then you have this extension. The builders have to weigh how they want it or what they prefer more :)

Yes, sorry, we were on a "different mission" privately. That's why it didn't continue. I was just briefly on the forum via mobile.

In the meantime, we have been busy.
The narrow house is definitely out now. The kitchen remains facing the street (the wife insists). We also spent almost a whole day again on the property, looking at the sun and shade progression, and the right side of the plan is indeed shaded relatively early due to terrain and buildings.

Here are the current drafts.

We are still not sure:
Ground floor
- Should we remove the shower downstairs? It is actually intended to "clean up" the kids and me when we come in all dirty from outside.
- Giving up the cupboards in the hallway in favor of a larger living room. We would then only build one cupboard under the stairs and maybe create a small niche at the front by the guest bathroom for a small wardrobe.
- We are also not sure yet about the windows and their distribution. Would love your opinion/ideas.
- To build or not to build the wall panel between the living room and dining area?

Upper floor
- Upstairs, we are still considering shrinking the shower in the guest bathroom and thus the hallway. That would make the office bigger.
- We are still uncertain about the walk-in closet without a window. We would like to take along our existing 3m wardrobe. That's why it is like this for now.

One more side question.
The neighbors have all already placed L-shaped stones or something similar to level their property. Am I allowed to simply use the "backside" of that (fill up to it) or do I have to put my own L-stone (or something similar) against it?

That's the status.
