Single-family house with garage on a gentle slope

I would place the house closer to the street; it is south-facing but honestly, it is a front yard. The long driveway costs money.
Plan a large terrace on the east side of the house and a small one further back in the garden.

I don’t quite understand your explanations. Left and right... with east and west we could understand something better. Besides, the building window is relevant. Does it extend to the neighbors? How much distance must be maintained at the front? Is the garage allowed to be built on the boundary on both sides? So: for some reason the architect has now suggested the garage on the left side of the plan, but I see a garage drawn on the right side of the plan, which you have traced in blue.

Also, the three drawings... those are from the architect with the garage in the east???!

And why are the support stones deep? He is at a higher level, right?

Regardless of my questions, I see far too few sun-facing windows in the south and west. There is basically nothing... I would probably personally want the house to be narrower so that there is still some terrace on the west side.

Would it not fit if the garage was dug into the front west corner, so it disappears into the slope?

Hello everyone! Thank you for the suggestions. I realize that I provided too little information compared to the other posts. Such a front yard is used for parking. I have a company van, a car, and a trailer. There are hardly any parking spaces on the street. And paving, of course, costs money. But I was once allowed to help pave the yard at a farm. Therefore, I will do it myself at my place as well. We cannot afford any more windows. That's part of the cost planning for the expansion. It is important to us that the garage is next to the house. Or I am happy to be inspired anew. And the terrace faces northeast. What is meant by disappearing into the ground? So the current question is: garage on the right or left regarding the slope. And if anyone already has experience with this or has implemented it. I will receive a plan in the next few days where the garage is then on the left. Presumably, I will know more then. Until then, thanks in advance. Best regards Theo

I understand that this is not an easy property to plan. But terrace northeast is pretty much the worst option overall. And if I can’t afford any windows facing south anymore, then I can’t afford to build the whole house.

I agree with Katja: if just one more window already disrupts the financial plan, then you should really consider whether you are overextending yourselves with the construction. Usually, it ends up being more expensive than originally planned (so a side question: is the financing already secured? Have you planned enough buffer? Not everything can be covered with EL!).

And then all of this on a sloped plot, where the earthworks will not be insignificant. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but please calculate carefully and be realistic and conservative.
You are still young, probably planning to have children -> also factor in the loss of income.

I really sound like a party pooper times three here, but as I said, if the idea of designing the windows differently or just one or two more windows already brings you to the edge of what’s financially feasible, then I get a really bad feeling about this...

Huh? I'm only reading this now... they aren't that much more expensive than walls?!
You should bring light into your house!
