Unfortunately, we do not yet know the roof pitch; the room height at the ridge with a north-south orientation is about 2.40 m, and on both sides there will probably be about 1 m left.

You mean with staircase entry in the north? We would now also like to swap the cloakroom with the guest WC, shorten the wall at the cloakroom and make it flush with the wall at the staircase. This opens up the entrance area a bit more. In addition, we would make the guest WC a bit more elongated (shower, sink, WC) and then push the living room a little upwards to get even more space in the living/dining room. What do you think?

You basically have to walk the stairs so that you always come out in the middle of the house (ridge position). Otherwise, it won’t work. With that, you can certainly gain about 30-40cm. I would decouple the fireplace from the partition wall. That gives openness in this design. Place the fireplace directly in front of the basement stairs, at least 1.20m away. Leave a gap between the chimney and the wall. This gives a more positive spatial effect.

I don't understand the thing with the stairs; the main ridge faces north-south, so I always come out relatively centered on the stairs, or am I confusing something?

So you would make the stove freestanding with a visible chimney pipe? Then you could even make a small bench by the stove :)

Honestly? I asked several times about what kind of roof, measurements, height, … eventually the information was "gable roof". How it sits on top, I don't know, no one here does except you. I don't want to guess, so I assume a roof which is used on terraced houses here in Germany about 80% of the time. Still, I don't know what kind of roof you will get. At this point, I'm unfortunately out.

In post #30, the OP had given the hint: Question: how is the roof? Is there a section? Roof slopes down from east to west, ridge runs south to north. Nevertheless, I wonder if the stairway in the attic works. That must be too tight? I don't have the knee wall in mind, but I think there isn't one?
