In this example, I notice that you cannot isolate yourself from the rest of the family. For two people, that wouldn't be an issue (putting Tupperware parties and men’s nights aside), but for families, retreating to watch TV is more feasible if you place the entrance to the east. I once tried that with a partial separation, but that would require too many sliding doors for my taste.
