I find YPG's layout more charming and not so "standard," but yours will work well too.

:eek: Thanks! This answer in post #30 completely passed me by! Unfortunately! In #34 I specifically asked again when the questions would be answered. Someone could have pointed me to the red text in the quote :rolleyes: I am just thinking about whether it would have influenced my design and I think the design works and is well done. As for the other idea, one has to weigh the pros and cons.., at least one should end up near the center axis (one should orient themselves by the architect's staircase ;))

On the ground floor, we would remove the wall from the living room to the dining room, the wall on the left would be replaced by the wood stove, which is a kind of half-high wall. The fireplace does need to be moved, but it should align well with the bathroom upstairs. The wardrobe and guest toilet would be swapped, and we would also add a shower in the toilet. Looking forward to your inputs ;)

In this example, I notice that you cannot isolate yourself from the rest of the family. For two people, that wouldn't be an issue (excluding Tupperware parties and guys' nights), but for families, the retreat to watch TV is more feasible if the entrance is placed on the east side. I once tried that with a half partition, but for me, that would require too many sliding doors to be used.

We see it similarly, which is why we decided on an open version. The wood stove will probably be flush with the wall and half-height with a small seating bench; the chimney would then run through the bathroom on the upper floor.

At the dining table, we now want to install a bench with a window directly on the east wall.
