Very important point. Someone said that at the school there are multiple internal teacher meetings several times(!) a week that revolve around the corona measures and the implementation of the vague ministerial guidelines. Such meetings are totally unnecessary. As in every well-managed organization, the management should summarize the key points and distribute them by email. That is exactly the task of the management. Time expenditure for all teachers: 5 minutes instead of a 60-minute video conference.

82 million national coaches and teachers, and a bankster who gets upset about the waste of tax money. You couldn't make it up :D

Although this doesn't really belong here, I can't just let it stand like that. Why? In Bavaria, teachers earn 3.6k net already at the entry level. Subtract about 200€ for private health insurance (PKV), and you're still at 3.4k net. That corresponds to almost 70k gross for a social insurance-obligated employee. If we also include the benefits of a pension, very good coverage/security, and maximum flexibility, we approach 80k, which an employee would have to earn. These are figures that represent dream starting salaries even for the overwhelming majority of my profession (engineers). Personally, I only know PhD holders who have started in these salary ranges. Reading your post, it sounds as if anyone could reach this if they just put in a bit of effort. In reality, with 3.4k net (without taking the aforementioned benefits into account) and tax class 1, one is already among the top 10% of earners in Germany; as a starting salary after a teaching degree. Whether this is justified or not, everyone should judge for themselves.

Please don't misunderstand me; I only want to put this into the overall context. As far as I'm concerned, a teacher could also earn 5k net, and I still wouldn't want to trade places. :)

To my knowledge, teachers in Bavaria start at A12 level 4. That makes 3,200€ net in tax class 1 minus 200€ for PKV, you’re at 3,000€ net.

Yes, that is a higher net than I have as an engineer in an IG Metall company. But personally, I find it justified and I wouldn’t want to trade for any amount of money in the world.

However, if you are similarly qualified as a teacher, your salary progression should generally be much steeper. If not, you are probably doing something wrong in times of skilled labor shortage.
And by the way, you are not THAT flexible as a teacher either. The civil servant career is often a branch you never leave. Not necessarily because of the so-called outstanding benefits, but because it goes very much in one direction and you are basically not properly qualified for other professions.

I do not live in Bavaria and know what friendly secondary school teachers earn. I think it’s okay. At my employer, university graduates are paid better than teachers (including Bavarian ones), receive holiday and Christmas bonuses, profit sharing, and a company pension scheme (which is not great, but better than nothing). Teachers receive 12 salaries and in Bavaria 70% Christmas bonus, have to struggle with the students, can practically not change employer, and are subject to every stupid political decision. Apart from that, good people should teach children, or is it better if only those become teachers whom nobody else wants?
