Hello everyone,

so, the guest WC is 80x110. I based it on a few floor plans I found online. The door is 65cm. The door to our current bathroom is only 60cm wide and that works without having to enter at an angle, as long as you’re not extremely broad
I just looked up the standard. According to VDI 6000 Sheet 3, the minimum dimensions are

    [*]Width, WC cabin: 90cm
    [*]Depth, WC cabin: 125cm

However, in my understanding, these do not apply to private households and 80x110 is not that far off. It’s not supposed to become a feel-good oasis anyway

I’ll try the kitchen thing again. Thanks for the hint.

And again about the budget. I understood that with 450,000 – according to the forum commenters – we can’t expect luxury fittings. Stressing this point further won’t bring any new insights. Since this forum is for floor plan discussion and not financing, I would appreciate it if we could leave it at that.

Best regards
Johannes

Yes! The whole house is supposed to become a living oasis!
Your mind is still not freed from this compromise thinking...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Finally someone else who sounds the same horn! *SCREAM* Please forget the statement "that works too" for your further planning. As I said, you can also wash yourself in the kitchen with 7 children, that works too. You are building your house, it should be able to do more than just "work too." I don't feel like harping on why a door to a bathroom with 60 cm is absolute crap, but please plan first so that your requirements (and you should consider WHAT reasonable, negotiable, and also NON-negotiable demands are) are met. Compromises are then made afterwards and where they hurt the least.

So regarding the 60 cm door and the WC dimensions, I would also raise concerns such as an operation/illness etc. As when I had my knee surgery 3 years ago and was on crutches for weeks, I would have been completely stuck in such a WC.

One should always keep that in mind.

Best regards, Tina

Apart from the absurd size - what happens to the toilet with the planned separation of the floors? Tear it out? And then you have the problem again that there is no guest toilet.

Right, a 60 cm door is certainly not a luxury, but we have been living here for 7 years and everyone, really everyone, has made it through the over 3 meter long hallway (65 cm wide) to the bathroom and back... and the guest toilet is for guests who want to relieve themselves quickly. Especially when slightly drunk, it's easier to keep the direction that way.

By the way, my mother is wheelchair-bound and has an eclectic height-adjustable toilet. That would also easily fit into our master bathroom. Of course, it’s also clear that she doesn’t use the guest toilet.

Why should the guest toilet be torn out just because of the separation of the floors?

Regards Johannes
