Because of the desired divisibility in old age. ... Yes, I also think that's a good idea. One should reflect on it again. So downstairs only living, cooking / eating + shower-guest WC, 1st floor + 2nd floor the rest. Later the elderly live downstairs anyway, whereby part of the former living area must function as a bedroom and the grandchild family on the 1st + 2nd floor.
You forget that even after a possible house division one still has a living entitlement and does not want to live in a very confined space. Our child is around 30, grandchild exists too, my parents in their mid-70s also have a house like we do.
One does not believe that anyone in our family wants to downsize or turn the living room into a bedroom. Everything on one level, yes sure. But no halving of the main room or living room or such.
