Sure. Oh dear. That too! Is the motorhome sufficient for 6 people? If not, now would be a good time to cash it in and add to the house budget. Must think about it - that takes a while... Lack of money.

I really can't imagine the furnishing in the living room at your place, don't you have a TV? Is that supposed to be a fireplace right by the dining table, if so then you can't sit there anymore. In general, I don't find such a long and narrow living room very nice, I would prefer a corner layout.

Best regards

Why a different staircase to the attic? Wouldn't it be smarter to also use the already existing stairwell there? I only see a loss of space here without understanding the purpose behind it.

On the ground floor, I would miss a guest WC. With 4 children, a lot of (small) visitors are to be expected, and personally, I don't want them to always use my parents' bathroom to pee. Overall, I would separate the parents' area a bit more on the ground floor, especially considering 4 teenagers. As a parent, you might already be in bed while the kids are still in the living area with visitors. If you then have to go to the toilet, it becomes very public here... I wouldn't want that. Therefore, my advice: parents' bedroom and bathroom as a separate area, accessible through a door. Better to make the bathroom a bit smaller, but definitely create a guest WC downstairs.

Hello Climbee,

thanks for your comments. The staircase to the attic is separate because otherwise it wouldn't work with the building height. Roof extensions are not allowed and then it gets too tight with the roof slope. The teenagers are supposed to have the entire attic as a playroom in the long run. Them constantly hanging around in the living/dining area is not intended, but whether the plan will work out remains to be seen. We basically also like a guest toilet, but the space is a bit limited and in our current 90 sqm apartment we don't have such a luxury either.

: A TV is planned on the wall between the living and dining area to swivel. But we don't watch that much TV anyway. What you think is a fireplace is my "brilliant" attempt to determine the position for the mounting plate of the ventilation pipes in the ground floor ceiling (concrete ceiling). A fireplace is not planned. Around the corner would of course be great, but since the master bedroom is supposed to face the garden, that's a space problem again.

Best regards Johannes

My two were always a lot in the living room, or my teenage daughter still occasionally watches a movie with us, plays with my husband on the Xbox, and does schoolwork down at the dining table. I mean, why have four children if you don't like having them around?

Best regards

A wardrobe is also missing. Especially with 6 people, quite a lot adds up. Even if it consistently stays with only 1 pair of shoes and 1 jacket.

I would not plan the bedroom next to the living room and the garden. I would fear not being able to sleep in a few years. Puberty in the garden, in the living room, and the third one above.

With a different staircase layout, the problem could possibly be solved by a continuous staircase up to the attic.

Have you planned a laundry chute?
