Hello,

Then I would probably walk around all summer with socks on; I am quite a cold person and I really don’t like cold feet at all

Industrial laminate costs much more; but you have lifelong joy from it if you like such flooring. But you have already touched on my thoughts on the subject, other floorings wouldn’t have cost more. I just think that "I" would get tired of these tiles sooner or later, but would definitely miss the warmth of wood.

Psst - I would also never lay glued paper.

Wood lives and I have nothing against a flooring that almost reflects our life; on the contrary, I like character

Rhenish greetings

Now you are confusing me here. The 90x20 format is really rubbish... I think it looks strange in a hallway that is 1.2m wide. By the way, I like terracotta. Do you think parquet is better for the kids? How much does decent parquet cost per sqm more (material and also installation)? In our construction specification, tiles are included for all rooms... but more on the lower middle range of the price per sqm.

Tiles in all rooms? Even bedroom/children's room?

Parquet is of course a matter of taste, but is perceived to be warmer underfoot. You have to be aware that children cause dents - normally this doesn't bother, but is just part of it.

When they are grown, you sand it once and everything is like new.

However, for materials of reasonably good quality you are looking at 50-90 euros/m2 - excluding labor, glue, and baseboards.

Yep, tiles in all rooms – then a play rug for playing. We definitely don’t want wall-to-wall carpet, as we are currently having huge trouble keeping it reasonably clean.

We had thought about cork, of course not ideal for underfloor heating. Parquet would still be an option, I assume – but if it starts at €50/m², that would be around €3,500 more for the bedrooms and living rooms (~140 m²) (I’m assuming the installation effort is similar to tiles). We’ll see – maybe we’ll have another idea.

Looking forward to see what comes out of the appointment on Friday. The wood look was just an idea. We will definitely have a look at the sandstone-colored tiles recommended by Yvonne.

I actually always find it a bit naive when people badmouth another fashion era or act as if they themselves would have chosen something different back then than the "ugly stuff" – "how can anyone be so tasteless...?"

The gray and black of today is the terracotta of yesterday.
You will hate these "non"-colors and everything you bring into your home in terms of colors today if you were to be beamed into the year 2030 right now.
Many do not notice through a gradual process that their tile color is no longer current: either one generally has different interests than color stories, i.e., no sensitivity, unconsciously no longer exposes oneself to comparison, or has become blind to the operation. The latter is more common. Then there are a few who still remember exactly how expensive their choice was – that is more about monetary than visual value.

Well, I found terracotta utterly ugly back then as I do today – so I don’t have to take that shoe regarding "out of touch" (whatever being out of touch has to do with it).

Same goes for the great trend of wood-look tiles...

I’m more into gray/black tones and white... I seriously doubt those will ever be called colors of the 2000s.

More likely our clinker bricks, where we did follow the trend and have heard that from the neighbors quite a few times: D
