So I looked at tiles at OBI, I think 15 x 60, the cost was just under 20€, they had a nice appearance and also the matching "Maserung / Vertiefung" to the look, I was very positively surprised.
Oh guys, you’re currently reducing tiles to wood look. If I wanted wood look, I would have gotten parquet.
Parquet has and will always have the disadvantage of being sensitive, which is why it is fundamentally ruled out for me as a material. Otherwise, I would have chosen it as well – so it just ended up being wood-look tiles.
Have you ever used parquet? I always have to smile when people talk about how delicate it is. That’s why there are houses from the early twentieth century that still have the original floorboards...
Here is a tile that is not from the hardware store but is rather in the average price range of wood look:
Hm, our 30€/sqm tile looks exactly the same in terms of texture etc., but is only 20x80. The 80€ tiles are of course larger and somewhat nicer, but at around 100sqm the price difference per sqm of tile and the extra cost for installation (20x80 was included for us) are simply in dimensions that didn’t make the extra cost worth it for us.

Yep, we have parquet flooring in our current rental apartment. And at the dining table, it's now an absolute disaster, so scratched up it is. Friends of ours installed parquet in their new build – the dog caused the same damage there as the chairs did for us. Based on these experiences, parquet is out of the question for us.
