Unpredictability of construction costs - Will the project fail because of it?

I rather assume that the topic of house construction is closed. As I said, finding a new construction company in such a short time is almost impossible, and the problem with unpredictable construction costs still remains. After all the mistakes, I have definitely lost interest in building a house.

Do I understand that correctly? Sold the condominium, the builder is causing trouble, you have the plot and will now rent an apartment in the future? Holy moly... I would have preferred to give 10k to a good lawyer who would have torn apart the builder.

The additional time required for a proper tender is minimal, especially in relation to the benefits (not least: the circumvented uncertainty).

There is a construction service description stating that before the start of construction, the work contract as well as the cancellation policy will be provided. Sorry for our probably boundless stupidity!

No, we will not rent an apartment. And even if the lawyer had torn the builder apart, I absolutely would have had no desire to have anything to do with him regarding the house.

Thanks, I completely agree. The lady from the bank also said that we did everything right by stopping. She sees much worse cases every day where it would have helped to stop earlier.

But interestingly, those who shout the loudest apparently also messed up and wasted money.

I admit it, we were and still are clueless in this area and relied on the wrong people. It happened and cannot be changed now. We will make the best of the situation and a solution will be found. I can definitely sleep more peacefully today because I know we have saved ourselves a lot of trouble.
