If you don't have massive space problems, that's largely nonsense. Less in this case compared to 19" only means lower costs for the content (10" patch panels > 12 ports), more effort for hardware selection (10" patch panels > 12 ports are rarer and more expensive, 10" switches with PoE as well), tendentially higher electrician costs (10" is not a standard for electricians) and more annoyance because the racks are just tiny, if you install them yourself. If you have it done, you end up with higher costs again because it is not standard.
Even with minimalist requirements (they are not that minimalist here at all), 19" is the better choice, solely because the selection of content is huge.

Are the LAN cables still that long? You should urgently sort this out with your electrician. You don't want him to suddenly shorten the cables and nail them onto a patch panel in the Hager cabinet. Then you'll have a real problem!

I would have the power strip connected directly. That way, you won't have the issue of someone unplugging it because they might need the vacuum cleaner.

Unfortunately, you can tell here that if you don't agree on anything, you end up with something anyway.

Okay, I probably do have a problem... I even believe that everything in the Hager cabinet is finished as far as it goes.

What options do I have now? The electrician won’t be available until Friday – unfortunately, I can only talk to him on Friday.

Can this be extended? Maybe the Hager cabinet is sufficient and has space for the router and switch?

You can find the drawing of my Hager cabinet in my first post.

... Unfortunately, my electrician is not exactly known for the most modern technology or wiring in the house. I think he planned it rather meagerly...

But it’s my own fault for not following up early enough... That’s how it usually is during construction – at certain stages you focus on other things.

Maybe it can still be "saved" relatively well?

First, post a photo of the inside of the cabinet. If there is a patch panel, you can simply connect sufficiently long patch cables there and lead them out of the cabinet into a rack hanging next to it, and from there directly to the switch via a brush strip or something similar.

The electrician has now replied after all:

"In this case, it would make sense to forgo our patch panel and lay the network cables in your patch cabinet directly onto a 19“ strip from you.

You can already mount the cabinet then."

So I wouldn’t have a patch panel at all, or what? I’m slowly losing track... :D

Theoretically, I have to buy a 19" patch panel, which I can then install in my Digitus cabinet, right? Then he can plug in there, or how do I understand that?

Yes, he means installing a 19-inch patch panel.
