Hey guys,

I wanted to get your opinion again. As described in the previous posts, we need 23 network ports.

Now I originally wanted to implement it like this:

10 inch network cabinet
2x 16 patch panels
1x 16-port switch with POE
1x 16-port switch without POE
+ rest router etc.

Unfortunately, I can't find any 16-port patch panels or switches for 10 inch. I only find 8 or 12 port for 10 inch.

So the following alternatives:

Option A: 10 inch

3x 12-port patch panels
3x 12-port switches
+ rest
But does all that fit in a 10 inch cabinet?????

Option B: 19 inch

19 inch network cabinet
1x 24 port patch panel/switch (only one port spare)

OR: 48-port patch panel and a 24-port switch and if necessary add another switch.

How would you implement this best?

Thanks a lot!

Ok thanks, but how do I create a reserve? What if during construction there are 2 more connections?

Depending on the switch, it also has up/downlink ports. If you want reserves, take a 48-port switch and two 24-port patch panels.

In my opinion, the switch should be such that it covers the number of devices + some reserve. You usually don't need every port directly patched in a single-family house. ;-)

I have to honestly admit that the statement confuses me a bit. So far I have understood it like this: 23 network connections = 23 cables arriving in the utility room. Each one is then placed on a port in the patch panel. From there I go into the switch. Do you mean I can, for example, connect the two network connections from the children's room to one port and thus "save" one connection?
