All right - but I think that doesn’t change my decision for the Speedport Smart 4 for now. I will inquire again about the Telekom modem - but it will certainly be installed. Thanks!

When confused, I reach for other drinks :P

As I said, I am quite a layman in this field but often follow such threads with interest, after all you want to learn something. I am also sure there are more professional solutions than a FritzBox with the associated AVM repeaters. The question is always how deeply do I want to get into it and what do I actually need in the end. Those who are into the topic and/or enjoy it can certainly get a lot out of it. But those looking for a fairly simple solution that is sufficient for most "normal" users are, I believe, quite well served here.

I am also in a similar situation and would like to quickly ask if I have understood everything correctly:

So we are planning 17 network connections inside (2 POE) and 6 outside (5 POE).

Hardware as follows:

10 inch network cabinet
2x 16 patch panels
1x 16-port switch with POE
1x 16-port switch without POE
+ rest router etc.

Have I understood this correctly? Can normal devices that actually do not need POE be connected to the POE switch?
Thank you very much!

Yes, you can also connect devices without POE to a POE switch. You have to be careful with injectors, as they often have passive POE and can fry the device if used incorrectly.

How do you connect the two switches? If you do this only with a 1GBit connection, you can create a bottleneck within the network.

Why is it done like that? Why 10-inch, why everything else doubled? Why not a 24 or 26-port switch and one patch panel? Why create a 1 Gbit bottleneck between the switches, over which everything has to run (or via uplink to the router)?

With a 24-port I only have one buffer port left. Therefore, I thought it makes more sense to go directly to 32 ports. Also, there is no 24-port in a 10-inch rack, right? Since our utility room is already quite full with controlled residential ventilation, heat pump, etc., I preferred to take a 10-inch cabinet. But I didn't know that the connection of two switches is problematic :/
