Absolutely right. Also regularly forgotten is the port for the router and other devices that often stay in the technical room: heat pumps, ventilation systems, photovoltaic inverters, etc.

I’m more concerned that the switch won’t last longer than 5 years, or am I wrong?

I thought: For the next few years I’m pretty sure no new ports will be added, at least not more than 3.

Aaaahm, regarding IGMPv3, no? What is that? I have no idea!

I use the Magenta app to watch TV – so no Magenta Box. Does that make a difference?

And the fear now is that the smaller switch won't be that expensive? If you simply choose a switch from an established manufacturer instead of such a Chinese knockoff, the risk would be minimized that way. Then IGMP is not an issue.

That’s why I asked again for a suitable model/manufacturer... But yuanley was not spoken badly of here - on the contrary. The 24 port switch from them is only available with 100mbit instead of 1000mbit. Sure... of course I don’t want to spend 300€ either - that’s why the question what suitable options there might be. Great, then I don’t have to deal with the IGMP topic :)

That's how I know it here too (EON Highspeed). The media converter (fiber to copper) was included, and then any hardware can be used. Best to call the builder service as says and ask.

Yes, SORRY on my part, thanks for the hint and the correction. I completely mixed something up! :( That was exactly the difference between "speedport smart 4" and the "smart 4 PLUS". The latter only has the fiber optic connection. If you take the normal one without Plus, Telekom’s own modem is switched in here, just like with the Fritzbox. The only disadvantage would probably be that the Fritzbox still needs to be configured (access data etc.), whereas the Speedports run directly at the connection without any further effort. Sorry for the confusion :( … I better go get another coffee ;)
