That would be possible with half duplex, but that's not what I mean. So you do need one port on the patch panel for every network port in the house. But in my opinion, not all ports on the patch panels need to be connected directly to a switch. You can patch them as you need.

No, he meant that you probably never use all the connections. Then you could re-patch. Your idea of 1-to-1 is correct. Please plan accordingly.

ah ok, so if I only use one of the two connections in the kids' room, both don't need to be connected to the switch. Makes sense. I think I'll go with the 48-port patch and start with a 24-port switch. I think after half a year at the latest I'll know if that's enough or not :)

So - a little update on my "project":

The network cabinet is neatly mounted under my electrical control cabinet.

The network cables have already been pulled in - the patch panel installed accordingly - the power strip connected.

Only the Internet is missing, then we can get started!

All purchases, thanks to your advice, make a good impression - so far I am satisfied :)

I would like to buy the access points directly at the start (PoE).

I can’t decide on one - I’m happy to receive some more input on this.

I don’t need different networks - I have no major requirements except:

- simple installation
- good range
- relatively compact (no huge parts)
- good wall mounting
- not too expensive (up to €120 each)

I need a total of 2.

Did you take the Unify Switch? Then it would also make sense to use the APs like the 6 lite from it? Otherwise, the question with Unifi is whether you want the configurator and also the data protection issue.

Hey - no, I have a switch from YuanLey. I am considering taking the Zyxel Wifi6 Small Business Accesspoint.
