Single-family house 175 sqm without basement, too big?

No, I do not find myself unique at all, and neither is the house design. I am aware that it will not be a "Wow!" house, it has too few special features for that. By the way, my starting point for the floor plan was Signus from Kern-Haus, which is also extremely similar.

Nonsense! That is the completely wrong attitude. This will be a truly wonderful WOW house: simple elegance with optimal and well-proven room layout. In addition, subtle homeowner wishes that give the house an unobtrusive, individual touch. It fits perfectly on the property and offers a family of four great happiness within their own four walls.

Shall I continue?

I love this forum, really! Are you serious about that, especially the insertion into the property? I'm afraid that we might be building on too much of the property.

It can really become a wow house if you tinker with the windows. Completely arbitrary window arrangements are, of course, also rubbish, but I read that many forgo optimal room layouts because the exterior appearance suffers a bit. Maybe the topic is so "annoying" for me because my wife always cared a lot about the exterior appearance, and I always said: We live IN the house, not OUTSIDE :P

The topic of windows I actually wanted to address only when the drawings from the architect are available, since I have no way to create external views myself (except with paper and pen, and I'm too lazy for that ). I wanted to have the floor plan first and then adjust the windows as far as the budget allows. I can already say in advance: I have many wishes in this regard, but most of them are too expensive for me. So I will try to find a good middle ground, so that a lot of light comes in without blowing the budget.

So, I actually quite like the ground floor. Okay, I tend to switch the stairs to the other side so you can get to the kitchen faster with the shopping bags and then quickly end up back at the Neo. It would also have the advantage that not everyone has to run through my chill area when they want a Coke. However, the office access would have to be relocated, which can be tricky depending on ceiling height and stair length. But I wouldn't overestimate that.

What I would really find dumb is locking the child in the north room. I have long-standing and intensive contact with the darkest goth scene (I’m just saying Leipzig and Dresden). I can assure you, a life in darkness is not the core philosophy, should that be the reason for the adolescent confusion. So if the son doesn’t have a health-related light allergy, I would grant him the bright room – whether he wants it or not.
