No no, with 750K it's not the hip roof that causes issues. It's really just a matter of taste. Hip roofs are so common and built everywhere, even the last idiot is now building a townhouse with a hip roof. Many (myself included) can't stand seeing them anymore, and there are whole housing developments that look like a block playground because of that.

Those who have money (and there's quite a bit here) build something more original in my opinion. What it ends up looking like is individually different. But you shouldn't let that bother you. Hip roofs can still look great and also depend on the rest of the style. I have a hip roof myself – but I wouldn't build it like that again today.

Take a look here for example:

That's individual and I really think it's great.

I don't understand why hip roof builders are always so criticized. If you put budgets aside for a moment, it is primarily a matter of taste. For example, I would prefer any standard suburban villa in terms of appearance over an architect-designed flat roof Bauhaus house, because I simply find the latter utterly ugly (at least all the ones I have seen so far). And individuality ultimately comes from the inside.

There are more styles than Bauhaus. What about country house, industrial design, classicism, etc.? Does it always have to be a townhouse?

Not for the one standing outside.

It doesn’t have to. But it can, if that’s just your own taste. And if everyone else on the street thinks it’s nice, they can build like that, too. And the person standing outside thinking "oh, that style again" can be ignored, as long as you build the house the way you want it yourself.

That's what is meant, yes. And sometimes you just have to adapt your taste to the external conditions. Square, practical, good... that just rarely fits on a slope. This "square, practical, good" is here synonymous with the classically limited foresight of the amateur house designer. I don't want to offend anyone with that, because it also applies to myself. For me, it is the task of a capable architect to design a desired room program for a problematic plot. Take a look at the discussion about a hillside triangular plot from .

Yeah, that will make a house. Hopefully the tree will stand for a long time.
