A proper driveway. But the OP is already calculating... and frankly, I say: build smaller and don’t be afraid of the costs of the outdoor facilities. Because on a slope, much more comes into play than just a few permeable stones.

I looked it up again: 750,000 for everything... including outdoor facilities, basement, equipment, aquarium technology. That must also be the reason why I don’t participate in the floor plan discussion here. I consider this too big of a deal. Just between us,

No, I wouldn’t do that. There are 7 linear meters of tall cabinets with a depth of 60 cm, in case that’s misleading. I also wouldn’t build it narrower, given the budget. The goal was to get the bathroom to the east. We did that, and I’m happy every time the sun hits my bathroom early. Haha. Messing around apparently doesn’t bother the OP. In the end, he wants a hip roof city villa (which I personally don’t understand with that budget). That 750 isn’t so decisive for the design. The architect will probably get a little heartache when he hears he’s not allowed to wildly plan a flat-roof designer villa into the slope. When is the appointment, actually?

I probably underestimate (like most prospective builders) the real cost drivers (e.g., hillside or hipped roof) a bit... Maybe. But as I have written before, the 750k is not set in stone or calculated with a very precise pencil. I have included some buffer. It won’t fail because of the costs for the basement or the driveway. Just because I want an idea of the approximate costs for a driveway doesn’t mean the project has to be declared too big and failed right away...

Why exactly? Is a hipped roof really that much more expensive than a gable roof? Are we talking about 1.5 times or twice as expensive? Or is it because of the two full floors?

One is already in the final selection. But there is no concrete decision or date yet.

I estimate our short driveway, just under 10 meters long (but 8 meters wide), costs around 12,000 - 13,000 euros in pure subcontracting for filling, compacting, paving (simple eco-pavers), leveled to the entrance, with a small wall at the entrance, and a gutter at the street. We had the filling and compacting done by a company in December 2017. With up to 1.2 meters of material, the whole thing should settle by up to 5 centimeters – which still has not happened. We are having the sealing and wall construction at the house entrance done by a company (it will be without a threshold). We help with the paving work or even do it ourselves. We can both pave. Paving will be done at the very end, once the garden on the left and right is finished. A few cubic meters of topsoil are still needed for that.

Steep slope behind the house – there are only 2 options: arduous manual labor, which is cheap because fancy stuff is not an option, or really expensive with machines and terrace construction. That would immediately be six figures.

YPG you cannot extend driveways arbitrarily. For our house, we would probably have had to do blasting. Father would have had to buy the plot behind the house. Father-in-law would have had to place the garage doors flush with the sidewalk. Driveways aren’t pretty either. Nice if 1-2 cars can still park there, no more is necessary.

With your budget and hillside location, something other than a city villa was possible. That is regretted.
